HYDERABAD: A leopard that entered Chukkapur village in Medak district early on Tuesday morning, was trapped after a nearly seven-hour struggle by the forest department, police and revenue department officials.
In the seven hour long episode, nine villagers were injured by the big cat, three of them seriously as the villagers and government officials tried to trap the animal in a series of sloppy attempts.
The leopard was finally caught around 3 p.m. after a veterinarian from the Nehru Zoological Park managed to tranquilize the animal.
Soon after tranquilization, the leopard tried to run away and got lodged in a net placed across a street in the village and officials finally managed to wrap the animal in additional netting.
